This was one of the strangest days I have experienced in Yosemite. The storm that was moving through the region was out of the south, warm and releasing a lot of rain. Somewhere in the upper reaches of the Merced River it must have triggered a landslide because for a few minutes the waterfalls turned brown from the silt load they were carrying. The light was some of the wildest and most beautiful I've seen over the Yosemite backcountry. In my ongoing quest to create original work far from throngs of other photographers, this piece was made by walking down the Panorama Trail until I turned east and headed cross country to find this outstanding perspective of the Merced River Canyon and Little Yosemite Valley.
