Lying on the east side of rough and difficult Sawtooth Pass, Columbine Lake is almost 11,000 feet above sea level. This piece offers a glimpse into some of the most remote areas of the Sierra Nevada. Columbine is nestled on all sides by high alpine peaks. To the north, the lakes outlet drops in a series of falls to a line of lakes one on top of the other. This is most certainly a place I am looking forward to returning to.
